摘要

Adsorption-desorption refrigeration system has started gaining importance mainly due to simple design, service requirements, high operating reliability and eco-friendly characteristics for replacement of Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) from conventional refrigeration systems. The success of such refrigeration system largely depends upon the availability of suitable porous material and a gas. Specific heat of the adsorbent material is the key property which helps to compute the heat of adsorption / desorption. Cold generated during desorption of gas finally is responsible for the production of required refrigeration indigenously and many of its characterization have already been completed. The paper makes a brief presentation of the indigenously built calorimeter along with its operation methodology for measurement of specific heat of any material in general and specific heat of activated carbon in particular. The experiments were carried out by the device with activated carbon at higher temperature range 30S.S K to 317.8 K as well as at low temperature range 254.6 K-264 K. The results obtained is quite impressive in comparison with the commercial apparatus.
