This article investigates catalytic activity of a complex [CuCl_2(o-Phen)_2] formed at interaction [CuCl_2] with o-phenantroline in the decomposition of hydroperoxide cumil in an aqueous-alcoholic solution in inert (argon) and oxygen atmosphere at 30℃. Efficiency of a formed complex [CuCl_2(o-Phen)_2] in the decomposition of hydroperoxide depends on a water volume fraction and on concentration of oxygen in a gas mix. The water participant is reduced to formation in a solution of a complex of another structure, [Cu(o-Phen)(OH)_2], which is less effective in the decomposition of hydroperoxide. The decomposition of hydroperoxide is completely braked in an oxygen atmosphere. This fact can be described by fixing oxygen by metal Cu~(+2) [CuL_2 ... O_2], which interferes with the hydroperoxide molecule to appear in a coordination sphere of the copper.
