The Return of An Electra: RESTORING LOCKHEED 10A, CF-TCC

Since the author had successfully spearheaded the restoration of the Canadian Warplane Heritages's Avro Lancaster, it was logical that Air Canada should approach him to supervise the reconstruction of their Lockheed 10A. Based upon a presentation to the Toronto Chapter of the CAHS. How did I come to be involved in the restoration of the Lockheed 10A Electra, CF-TCC, when I was never employed by either Air Canada or Trans-Canada Air Lines? To answer this question I must take you back to early 1983 when I was asked by the Canadian Warplane Historical Museum (CWHM) to be a consultant and to train five young people as mechanics. The idea was to use their Avro Lancaster as a training aircraft with the ultimate idea of completely rebuilding it to flying condition. As we progressed, I also became responsible for the crew of volunteers and was appointed Project Engineer.
