The globalisation phenomenon has been a trigger for many great debates, only few of which are as ethically contentious as the nature of its outcomes for women and women workers. The main purpose of this JOBE special issue, therefore, is to showcase the more important conceptual and empirical work being undertaken to illuminate women's experiences of the global economy. Other key aims are to offer a platform for discussing how female workers and managers around the world might get a fairer deal from global businesses and institutions, and to provide a consolidated reference point for scholars, practitioners, policy makers, and other stakeholders with abiding interest in the challenges, opportunities, and ethics of globalisation for 21st century women.
