The responses of advocates for messaging are disappointing. They do not to pay proper attention to the quantitative arguments that John Billingham and myself made in our paper. We showed that leakage radiation, either in the form of television, radars or othewise, is not observable at our level of technology beyond a few light years at best. The advocates for messaging respond by simply repeating the assertion that we've been observed. That is not a scientific response, unfortunately. To respond to a quantitative argument one must have a quantitative counter-argument. I must conclude that they are either unable or unwilling to face the facts: we haven't been observed.
