摘要

The actual concentration level of Cox's Bazar beach sand minerals magnetite and ilmenite was determined quantitatively using X-ray diffraction (XRD) method. The impurities present in both the minerals were also determined quantitatively in mineralogical form. Magnetite was found to be in the range of 97.0 - 97.3% in the minerals. Hematite, akdalatite and quartz were found in the magnetite meineral as the impurities. On the other hand, ilmenite was found to be in the range of 42.4 - 43.0% in the total ilmenite mineral. Hematite, rutile, quartz and zircon were found as the impurities. This is the first observation of Cox's Bazar beach sand minerals magnetite and ilmenite for their actual concentrations in mineralogical form using XRD method. It is expected that the present XRD data would be useful to consider the exact purity level of the two minerals.
