The possibility of using individual types of woody plants in the collection of the A.V. Fomin Botanical Garden of Taras Schevchcnko National University of Kiev to overcoming the "urban heat island" by the content of photosynthetic pigments and the fluorescence induction parameters of chlorophyll was studied. It has been established that leafy species of families Sapindaceae ( Acer rubrum, Acer velutinum ) and Magnoliaceae ( Magnolia soulangeana. Magnolia kobus ) are characterized by a high "index of viability".
