While the world ponders the economic ailments of Southeast Asia, atleast one country in Southeast Asia is quietly moving forward economically. The Union of Myanmar covers 678,000sq.km and is home to 46 million people. Administratively, the nation divides into seven states and seven divisions, with 314 townships altogether. The Myanmar Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) operating under the Min-istry of Communications, Posts and Telegraphs, single-handedly provides postal, telegraph and telecommunications services to the public. Heading the organization is a managing director; a general manager serves as his deputy.
