Multiple-Layer Boards Keep NEC Components Gliding Globally

Foreign investors looking for a foothold in Southeast Asia these days often find the Philippines near the top of their short list of candidates. Among the companies that have established operations in the Philippines is NEC Corp., which opened NEC Components Philippines, Inc. in March 1996, in Calamba City's Light Industry Science Park. Here, in Laguna Province, the subsidiary serves as NEC Corp.'s overseas production base for electronic components. Operations began in April 1997, when production lines began turning out multiple-layer printed circuit boards. The company began making relays for vehicle-use equipment in July of the same year.
