The relationship between architecture and photography has been increasingly explored throughout the first decade of the twenty-first century. The late Curator of the RIBA Library Photographs Collection, Robert Elwall, published the first comprehensive history on the subject, Building with Light: the International History of Architectural Photography, in 2004; five years later Storia delta fotografia di archi-tettura followed, written by the Italian scholar Giovanni Fanelli. A conference on this relationship, 'Still Architecture: Photography, Vision and Cultural Transmission', organised by Marco luliano and Francois Penz, was held in May, 2012, at the University of Cambridge; this was preceded in 2006 by another entitled 'Camera Constructs', held at the University of East London.
