The editors of Companion to Urban Design have produced a big book. It spans 709 pages but is large in content and ambition in addition to resembling a good-sized brick. Leading urban design professors Tridib Banerjee and Anastasia Loukaitou-Sideris corralled some 56 other scholars to assemble this useful resource of in-depth information about urban design. The book is divided into nine parts, beginning with "Roots" and concluding with "New Directions." In between, theory, influences, methods, process, components, debates, and global trends are addressed.
