In the March 1995 edition of the Journal of American Statistical Association, I reviewed the first edition of th is book. At that time, I concluded that it was an excellent book for statisticians or students majoring in statistics. However, because of the depth of the mathematical presentation, the book would not be appropriate for students with a weak mathematical background. I believe that conclusion is still appropriate fox this edition.
