The system performance of a trickle bed biofilter for treating single and mixed benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and 0-xylene (BTEX) vapors from waste gases was oinvestigated under different gas flow rates and infleu8nt BTEX concentrations. When a single substrate was fed, removal efficiencies of greater than 90/100 could be achieved for the loads belkow 64 g benzene/m~3/hr, 110 g toluene/m~3/hr, 53 g ethylbenzene/m~3/hr, and 55 g0-xylene/m~3/hr.
