NextGen Conops - Part 1

Over two editions of The Journal of Air Traffic Control, I will summarize the Joint Planning and Development Office's (JPDO) Concept of Operations for the Next Generation Air Transportation System (Conops). Anyone can go to www.jpdo.aero and register as a collaborator, receive a password and download the original. The source document is Draft 5 (Version 1.2) of February 28. The aviation community is expecting another version later this year. In deciding what story to tell, I have focused on the back end of the conops, the non-air traffic management part of the document. I will save the air traffic management portions of the conops for the fall issue of The Journal of Air Traffic Control, so that the information is fresh on everyone's mind as we roll into the 52nd Annual ATCA Conference and Exposition.
