Acupuncture Treatment for Riehl's Melanosis: A Case Report

The patient, male, 27 years old, complained of dark plaque at the forehead, neck and forearm. Half a year ago, he found his forehead, neck and forearm flush and pruritus after touching machine oil and exposure to the sunlight for a long time, and then, there were a progressive pigmentation, which was light purple at the beginning, and became dark brown pigmented spot. A month ago, the patient left the primary working environment, and did some pathologic examinations at the local hospital, which implied liquefactive basal cell degeneration, and there were many melanophages and melanin in the superficial layer of the dermis and inflammatory infiltration around blood vessel. He was diagnosed with Reihl's Disease, and treated with intravenous drip of Vitamin C, external use of 0.1% Vitamine A acid, and oral administration of Chinese medicine.
