Records of Running Test of Confirmation Test Vehicle of N700S Series and Improvement for Mass Production Train Set

Central Japan Railway Company (hereinafter referred to as "JR Central") has developed the N700S series train set which is characterized with improved safety and reliability enhanced capability for coping with abnormal conditions, and reduced running cost. The train set was manufactured as the full-model changed vehicles of the Tokaido Shinkansen for the first time in 13 years (N700 series mass production train set was introduced in July 2007). JR Central introduced the N700S series mass production train set in July 2020 after the ninning test that had been conducted since March 2018 (Photo 1). This is the new flagship train set for Tokaido Shinkansen and has been developed while aiming to be introduced in domestic and foreign markets.
