Process for Developing Recording Materials of Phase Change Optical Media Using MediaTest-I and Simulation Technique

摘要

The method for investigating temperature-dependent crystallization characteristics by using MediaTest-I and a simulation technique was established. Our method is able to evaluate materials that nucleate easily as well as those that do not, and is also able to evaluate both the crystal growth and nucleation properties. The recording material in compact disc rewritable 4 times speed (CD-RW4 x), a material of the SbTe system and the materials of the GaSb system were investigated using this method, and its effectiveness was confirmed. Additionally, it was found that the crystal growth rate of GaSbInSn reaches 10 times that of the recording material in CD-RW4x if its Ga:Sb and In:Sn ratios are adjusted appropriately.
