The notable findings are summarized below.rn1) Based on the experimental results, the fragility functionsrnof the expansion joints for each damage state wererndeveloped. Most of the damage states were considered as displacement sensitive, and the dispersion wasrndetermined in consideration of the initial position errorsrnexpected in expansion joints (EXPJ). The median valuernwas taken from the expected damage length in therndrawings and from the experimental results.rn2) Damage probabilities of EXPJs installed in the adjacentrnbuilding model were evaluated. As the failurernprobabilities of the B-rank EXPJ rapidly increases nearrnthe design motion range, an extra safety margin should bernconsidered, such as the motion range of EXPJ equals torn100% of the relative displacement demand against Levelrn2 ground motions.
