USN reports progress on key Ford carrier systems

Officers on board the US Navy's (USN's) first-of-class aircraft carrier USS Gerald R Ford(CVN 78) reported the delivery of another Advanced Weapons Elevator (AWE) in early March, as well as improved reliability with the ship's new launch and recovery systems. These and other key technologically advanced systems on Ford have recently come under fire from critics in the Pentagon and Congress. However, during onboard, at-sea media interviews on 9 March, Ford officers and sailors noted that much of the criticism was based on dated reviews and failed to reflect the state and progress of those systems now.
