Lockheed Martin wins F110 Aegis fire-control loop contract

Lockheed Martin has received a US Foreign Military Sales (FMS) contract worth more than half a billion dollars to develop and deliver the Aegis fire-control loop and radar processing for the Spanish Navy's new F 110 multi-mission frigates. Five F110 frigates are on order from Spanish naval shipbuilder and systems integrator Navan-tia. Building on the experience of the F 100 programme, the F 110 will blend the indigenous Navantia Sistema-developed SCOMBA combat management system (CMS) with elements of the US Navy/Lockheed Martin Aegis system-notably the Aegis fire-control loop. The SCOMBA CMS is already in Spanish Navy service but the F110 programme will represent the most complex integration to date.
