Updating ANZACs to meet changed strategic posture

HMAS Toowoomba, the seventh ANZAC frigate for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), was commissioned into the service in a ceremony in Brisbane, Queensland, on 8 October 2005. NUSHIP Perth, the eighth and final vessel of the class for the RAN, is expected to commission in September 2006, just over a decade after the delivery of first-of-class HMAS Anzac, and almost 17 years since the original prime contract between the Commonwealth and what was AMECON — now Tenix Defence — was signed on 10 November 1989.
