The Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) commissioned the Vikram-class offshore patrol vessel (OPV) SLNS Sayurala (P 623) on 28 August, a year after first deploying the ex-Indian Coast Guard ship on operations against Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LITE) insurgents.rnAfter the ceremony at Trinco-malee, it emerged that the 1,247-ton ex-ICGS Vigraha had been quietly transferred to the SLN on 23 August 2008 and put to use immediately in Sri Lanka's recently ended civil war.
