International and European naval spending projections

Spending on naval production programmes in Europe, including the procurement and upgrade of naval vessels, is projected to total in the region of USD100 billion in the 10 years to 2018. Annual spending is projected to increase from around USD8.5 billion to more than USD11.5 billion by 2016 before settling down to a level of USD8 billion-USD9 billion. Fluctuation is probable as the end of the global economic crisis is not yet in sight with any degree of certainty and budgets are subject to review for years to come.
