Brazil has eight offers for NPO 1800

The Brazilian Navy has received eight responses to its request for information (Rfl) for the first batch of up to five 1,800-ton NPO (Navio Patrulha Oceanico) ocean patrol ships.rnA navy spokesman told Jane's on 18 February that the Rfl for the NPO 1800 project closed on 8 January and a request for proposals is expected in June or July, with a construction contract to be signed at the end of the year. The project is part of the PAEMB (Piano de Articulagao e Equi-pamento da Marinha do Brasil) modernisation plan. The ship will be built in Brazil but design options and partnerships with overseas shipbuilders will be considered.
