One participant in September's joint 'DANEX/Northern Coasts' exercise in the western Baltic Sea stood out among the ranks of corvettes, mine-hunters and patrol craft: the Royal Norwegian Navy's (RNoN's) fast strike craft KNM Skudd. Commissioned on 28 October 2010 as the third of six Skjold-class vessels, Skudd's participation in the 12 days of manoeuvres was a first for a type that had not previously been represented in a major multinational exercise, according to its commanding officer, Lieutenant Commander Gunnar Beisland.
