Norway takes delivery of Sting Rays

BAE Systems has begun deliveries of Sting Ray Mod 1 lightweight torpedoes to Norway under the terms of a GBP99 million (USD158 million) contract signed with the country's Defence Logistics Organisation in February 2009. Procured under Project 6401, Sting Ray Mod 1 will equip the Royal Norwegian Navy's (RNoN's) five new Fridtjof Nansen-class frigates; it is also being integrated for air launch from Royal Norwegian Air Force P-3 Orion maritime patrol aircraft and the new NH90-NFN ship-borne helicopters.
