DeepSiren proves its worth in Arctic exercise

Two US Navy (USN) attack submarines have proved the tactical and emergency response capabilities of the DeepSiren long-range acoustic tactical paging system, prime contractor Raytheon said on 13 April. Designed to bridge a significant capability gap in underwater communications, DeepSiren was employed by the Virginia-class submarine USS New Hampshire and the Seawolf-class submarine USS Connect/cut during the ICEX 2011' exercise led by the Arctic Submarine Laboratory in the second half of March 2011.
