MBDA, Lockheed Martin sign missile launcher tie-up

MBDA and Lockheed Martin Mission Systems and Training have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore opportunities for the integration of MBDA naval missiles into Lockheed Martin shipborne vertical launch systems (VLS). The accord has the potential to significantly change a key dynamic in the naval guided weapons market; hitherto, MBDA missiles have been qualified with the DCNS-built Sylver family of vertical launchers, but not Lockheed Martin's more widely sold Mk 41 VLS.
