Sagem to supply optronic masts for Swedish submarines

Saab Kockums has selected French sensor and navigation systems house Sagem (part of the Safran group) to supply the optronic mast system for the Royal Swedish Navy's two new A 26 submarines, and for the mid-life upgrade (MLU) of two A19 Gotland-class boats. Sagem, which won out in competition with a number of international rivals, will supply its Series 30 non-hull-penetrating optronic Search Mast System (SMS) for the four boats. The company's contract also includes initial logistics support services and options for additional systems. No value for the contract has been disclosed.
