The Belgian Navy's 2017 North Sea Unmanned MCM Trials, held in June this year, provided industry with an opportunity to showcase a range of autonomous system solutions in a 2 n mile x 2 n mile exercise minefield laid off the port of Zeebrugge. Different systems were evaluated on the basis of the time required to search a given area, and the occurrence of detection/classification. The coastal patrol vessel BNS Pollux was roled as a command platform/mother vessel for the purposes of the trials programme.
