Thales, Rheinmetall unveil new FZ606 digital 70 mm rocket launcher

Thales, in association with Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbH, has disclosed the development of a new NATO-standard, six-tube digital air-to-surface rocket launcher for use with new or upgraded latest-generation attack and fire-support helicopters. The disclosure follows a series of firing trials from a static ground-based version of the new launcher - designated the FZ606 - at the Thales testing facility in Herstal, Belgium, in early 2020.
