BriteCloud 55-T expendable active decoy aimed at large aircraft self protection

Having previously introduced variants of its BriteCloud RF expendable active decoy (EAD) for fast jet applications, Leonardo in June 2018 unveiled a modified derivative adapted for the protection of military transport aircraft. Known as BriteCloud 55-T, the 55 mm diameter EAD is claimed to be the first EAD purpose-designed for protecting military transport aircraft against radar-guided missiles. BriteCloud is an expendable digital radio frequency memory (DRFM) jammer designed to provide fast jet aircraft with effective 'end game' protection against RF-guided missile threats and/or tracking radars. After ejection, the BriteCloud decoy searches and locks onto the highest priority threat; deception techniques include Doppler and false targets in range.
