The Indian Army is seeking an unspecified number of rail-transportable, lightweight recovery vehicles to support its operations in high altitudes of up to 5,334 m (17,500 ft) above sea level, according to a request for information (RfI) that closed on 19 March. The service wants indigenous and international suppliers for recovery vehicles less than 10 tons gross vehicle weight (GVW), with a capability to provide salvage and repair services for utility and "specialist" wheeled vehicles. The proposed vehicle should also be capable of conducting unditch-ing and uprighting operations for distressed vehicles with a GVW of up to 6 tons, as well as extricating and carrying casualties.
