U.S. Army Special Operations Command is pursuing a new light ground vehicle as it eyes gaps in its ground mobility capabilities, according to a top service official. "We're looking to find a light vehicle ~ a new version of it that can be transported by a Chinook and that can do our long-range infiltration requirements," said Maj. Gen. Kurt Fuller, deputy commander of USASOC, at a Feb. 15 Association of the U.S. Army event. "Deep, low-visibility infiltration is what we're looking at," he added. "That's something that we use the GMV -- the Ground Mobility Vehicle ~ for now, and we're just watching as the Army transitions away from that storage platform, trying to stay in sync with their future mobility vehicles."
