UAE orders additional GlobalEye AEW&C aircraft

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has signed for two more Saab GlobalEye airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft, bringing the Gulf state's total order to five. The Swedish manufacturer announced on 4 January that it had received a follow-on contract valued at USD1.018 billion running to 2025. This award adds to the original order for three of the Bombardier Global 6000 business jet-based aircraft the UAE ordered in 2015. Saab delivered the first to the UAE Air Force and Air Defence (AFAD) in April 2020 and the second in September. The third is due to arrive in the UAE before the end of 2021.
