Raytheon has secured a USD234 million initial low-rate production contract from the US Navy for its Joint Precision Approach and Landing System (JPALS), the company announced on 17 June during the Paris Air Show. The contract, which was awarded in May, covers 23 sets of JPALS equipment that will be installed in the US Navy's aircraft carriers and amphibious assault ships to facilitate the precision landings of F-35B/C Joint Strike Fighters and MQ-25 unmanned aerial refuelling vehicles in all weather and sea conditions up to Sea State 5.
