The Turkish General Staff (TGS) has authorised the Turkish Defence Industries Undersecret-ariat (SSM) to relaunch the procurement of a military surveillance satellite expected to be worth around $200 million. Turkey cancelled the acquisition of a spy satellite from France's Alcatel and Israel's Israel Aircraft Industries in 2000. The SSM plans to issue a request for proposals early this year for the acquisition of an observation satellite with a 0.6 m resolution. The project is planned to be completed between 2005 and 2009.
