Chinese ASAT test rekindles weapons debate

The US government confirmed on 18 January that China used an antisatellite (ASAT) rocket to destroy an obsolete weather satellite in a weapons test that has scattered debris in the low earth orbital field and re-ignited the debate on the weap- onisation of space.
