USAF deploys first AESA-updated F-15C Eagle aircraft to Japan

The US Air Force (USAF) has deployed the first of 54 active electronically scanned array (AESA)-equipped Boeing F-15C Eagle fighter aircraft to Kadena Air Base (AB) in Japan, it was announced on 4 November.rnThe first four aircraft upgraded with the Raytheon AN/ APG-63(V)3 AESA radar arrived on the Japanese island of Okinawa on 21 October, where they will be operated by the 44th and 67th Fighter Squadrons of the 18th Wing of the Fifth Air Force.rnA total of 54 AESA-equipped F-15C/D Eagles are scheduled to be on station at Kadena AB by September 2013.
