Mazagon Docks set to build half of Indian Navy's new Project 75 subs

The Indian government's Defence Acquisition Counpil (DAC) has determined that Mazagon Docks Limited (MDL), the country's principal submarine builder, will construct under licence half of the Indian Navy's next-generation diesel-electric submarines, The Times of India newspaper has reported.rnThe report on 11 July said that three submarines will be built under licence at MDL in Mumbai and one at Hindustan Shipyard Limited in Visakhapatnam. Citing an unidentified official, it added that the remaining three submarines will be imported directly from a foreign prime or constructed at a private shipyard in India.
