The US Army is set to begin its Common Infrared Counter-measure (CIRCM) programme in an effort to field new laser-based aircraft survivability equipment.rnA spokesman for the army's Program Executive Office for Intelligence, Electronic Warfare and Sensors (PEO IEW&S), which is overseeing the project, told Jane's that the CIRCM draft request for proposals (RfP) was expected to be posted by 16 April.rnLast year the Pentagon broke up the army's Common Missile Warning System (CMWS) and Advanced Threat Infrared Countermeasure (ATIRCM) programmes "to permit more visibility into the costs, schedule and performance of each element", according to a 1 April Department of Defense (DoD) report.
