Dassault delivers first AESA-equipped Rafale

Dassault handed over the first Rafale combat aircraft to be equipped with a production- standard active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar to the Direction Generate de I'Armement on 2 October. The handover of the Thales Radar a Balayage Electronique 2 (RBE2) AESA-equipped Rafale (serial C137) took place at Dassault's Merignac production facility near Bordeaux. According to Dassault, the new radar allows for an extended range of capabilities supporting low-observable target detection and full use of new weapons, such as the MBDA Meteor beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile.
