Latvia proposes joint Baltic armed forces

Latvian President Andris Berzins has proposed that the Baltic States should incrementally develop joint armed forces with common military structures. On 19 July Berzins, in an interview with the Baltic News Service, said: "We should go ahead, start at the level concentrating Baltic states armed forces. We should move towards greater consolidation, because alone we are not so strong. The [shared] air defence concept should be developed in all fields."
