US, UK deploy ISR aircraft to search for Nigerian girls

The United States has deployed around 80 personnel and surveillance aircraft to Chad, while the UK has sent a Raytheon Sentinel R.1 Airborne Stand-Off Radar (ASTOR) aircraft to Ghana to help find the Nigerian school girls held by the radical Islamist group Boko Haram. "Approximately 80 US armed forces personnel have deployed to Chad," the White House announced on 21 May. "These personnel will support the operation of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft for missions over northern Nigeria and the surrounding area."
