The US Air Force (USAF) is leveraging its Guard and Reserve forces to help build its cyber force, several senior officers said during a panel at the Air Force Association's annual Air and Space Conference in National Harbor, Maryland. The USAF has been trying to grow its workforce to about 2,000 cyber experts as part of the Pentagon's broader push for 6,000 people for its Cyber Mission Force. To reach that figure and to try to use its relationships with experts, the service is working to ensure Guard and Reserve forces are fully integrated. "When it came time to build the cyber mission force, the air force integrated the Guard and the Reserve into that concept - as a matter of fact more than any other service," said Major General Karen Rizzuti, the mobilisation assistant to the USAF's cyber squadron in San Antonio, Texas, during the 15 September panel.
