Vietnam says US is moving closer to fully lifting arms embargo

The Vietnamese Ministry of Defence (MoD) has indicated that the United States is moving closer to fully removing the military embargo it imposed on the country. The MoD said on 14 July that Frank A Rose, US Assistant Secretary for Arms Control, Verification and Compliance - who is currently visiting Vietnam - has indicated that the sales restriction could soon be fully lifted in line with deepening bilateral ties. The embargo was partially lifted in 2014.
