Czech Mod seeks Western SAM to replace SA-6s

The Czech Ministry of Defence is seeking to procure a modern Western medium-range surface-to-air missile system to replace the Russian-made 2K12 Kub (SA-6 'Gainful') system currently in service with the Strakonice-based air defence battalion of the Army of the Czech Republic, the service life of which is scheduled to end in 2020. "We have issued a request for information [Rfl] to five Western missile manufacturers - including Diehl, Kongsberg, Lockheed Martin, MBDA, and Rafael -and expect a response by mid-November," MoD spokesperson Jan Pejsek told IHS Jane's on 3 November.
