EU to strengthen dual-use exports rules with tighter cyber controls

The European Commission unveiled its proposal on 28 September to modify the EU's seven-year-old dual-use export licensing regulation, which includes clamping down on cyber technologies to prevent their abuse by repressive regimes. The proposed changes also expand the use of general licences and other measures in the hope of forcing down licensing costs for companies and government agencies, said the EU executive.
