RAG searches for simpler ways of doing things in the Sector

At its fifth meeting (Geneva, 11-14 March 1997), the Radiocommunication Advisory Group noted the major events which had occurred since its last meeting in February 1996. Introducing the broad agenda, RAG's Chairman, Mr M. Goddard (United Kingdom), called for a careful review of the results of those events which may have an impact on the present and future activities of the Radiocommunication Sector (ITU-R). Among them are: the World Telecommunication Policy Forum on global mobile personal communications by satellite (GMPCS), the World Standardization Conference (WTSC-96) and the second meeting of ITU-2000. RAG also had to prepare the Sector's component of the Strategic Plan for the period 1999-2003 and to find ways of helping the ITU-R to better prepare for World Radio-communication Conferences (WRC).
