IDB agrees loan for Bolivian project

The Inter-American Development Bank has approved $106M in loans to help fund development of the Misicuni hydroelectric scheme and watershed environmental management project in Bolivia.rnThe Misicuni project will increase the supply of water for domestic use and irrigation to the Cochabamba Valley while generating electricity for Bolivia's National Interconnected System. The Cochabamba region has been increasingly suffering from a scarcity of water both for human consumption and for agriculture, and Bolivia needs to expand its electricity generation capacity to meet the growing demand.
